Stevens Competes At Bison Open

LEWISBURG, Pa. (April 12, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's and women's track and field teams saw several members qualify for the ECAC Outdoor Championships at the Bison Open this weekend.
On the men's side, sophomore
Nicholas Zickgraf finished ninth in the 1,500-meter unseeded run with a time of 3:37.30 which is a school record while also qualifying for ECAC's in the process. Zickgraf also helped the 4X800 team of senior
Louis Stengel, sophomore
Michael John and freshman
Greg Arabagian to a school-record and ECAC qualifying time of 7:53 while recording a split of 1:55.2. Senior
Thomas Cunningham placed 16 in the 5000m with personal best time of 15:02.76 which not only qualified him for ECAC's, but also was the second fastest time in school history. The 4X100-meter team of juniors Kris Alvarez,
Shane Chiaravalle,
Tom Halloran and sophomore
Brian Fratto finished tenth with a time of 43.75 while Chiaravalle set a personal best in the 400 with a time 53.88, .8 seconds short of a school record.
Halloran, Chiaravalle, Arabagian and
Zach McKeehan ran a season best time in the 4X4 relay while Stengel, John and Arabagian all hit personal bests in the 800. In the field events, senior
Robert Pinto finished third, reaching a height of 1.94m, while sophomore
Neil Forrester tossed the discus school record 43.75-meters. Senior
Cory Zegel shattered a school record in the hammer throw with a throw of 48.16m freshman
Tanner Lyons and sophomore
Paul Caplan netted top-20 finishes in the javelin, with Lyons recording a personal best.
On the women's side, junior
Kate Moyer finished sixth in the 5000-meter run qualifying for ECAC's and setting her personal best with a time of 18:01.16. The 4X800 quartet of freshman Katie Brodecki,
Samantha Rokicsak and
Kiera Sheridan along with sophomore
Kaela Earrusso qualified for the ECAC meet with a time of 9:52.61
