Hogan Ties Single-Game Record as Elmira Falls to Farmingdale

Farmingdale, NY -- The Elmira College women's lacrosse team (2-10, 1-5 E8) fell to Farmingdale State College (6-4, 3-1 Skyline) 22-11 today. Ashton Hogan '16 led the Soaring Eagles with eight goals and one assist while Lindsay Wargo '17posted 13 saves in today's action. Hogan's eight goals matches an EC record for most goals scored in a single-game.
 
The Rams scored the game's first goal just 44 seconds into the game and again 1:34 later to take a quick 2-0 lead. Hogan responded with back-to-back goals, 42 seconds apart, with Moorea Spoljaric '16 being credited with an assist on the second goal.
 
Farmingdale then scored two more goals to up their lead to 4-2 just 7:28 into play. Hogan scored again to cut the Rams' lead to 4-3. Farmingdale responded with six straight goals to take a 10-3 lead with 8:46 left in the first half. Two more goals by Hogan cut the Rams' lead to 10-5, however, Farmingdale netted the final goal of the first half, with 49 seconds left, to take an 11-5 lead heading into half time.
 
Spoljaric scored her first goal of the game to kick-off the second half to make it a 13-7 game. The Rams then added two more goals before Kyra McDonald '18 tossed the ball over to Spoljaric who scored her second goal of the game just 9:31 into the second half. Farmingdale would then score again to up their lead to 16-8 before Hogan scored yet another goal to trail 16-9 with 15:30 left to play.
 
45 seconds later McDonald would score a goal with Hogan assisting on the play to cut Farmingdale's lead to 16-10. However, the Rams would take away any sort of a comeback opportunity away from EC as Farmingdale would score six more goals before Hogan found the back of the net one more time with 59 seconds left in regulation time. Kelsey Quail '17 was credited with the helper on the final scoring play of the game.
 
The Purple and Gold will compete next this Thursday, April 16th when the EC women travel to Oswego State for a non-conference matchup at 4:00 p.m.
