Hartwick and Houghton Post League Victories; Stevens Beats NYU
HARTWICK 8, Utica 1
Hartwick men's tennis won its second consecutive match on Wednesday with an 8-1 victory over Utica College. The Hawks swept all three doubles match and took five of six singles matches on the day. The Hawks improve to 2-4 overall and pick up their first Empire 8 Conference win.
A pair of Hartwick doubles teams swept their UC opponents 8-0.
Brian Redder and
Will Gilbraith won their match at first doubles along with
Sean Coppola and
Ross Braue at third doubles.
John Talbot and
Liam Brown also were victorious at second doubles by a final count of 8-3.
In singles play, Talbot and
Jefferson Monastoque did not drop a game in their victories. Talbot defeated Dominick Trimarchi at first singles, 6-0, 6-0. Monastoque improved to 4-2 on the season with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Joe Castellitto in the fifth flight.
Gilbraith won his second straight match at third singles with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph over UC's Ryan Valle. Brown earned a win at fourth singles, 6-0, 6-1, against Jacob Nigolian.
Braue notched his first victory of the season at sixth singles. He defeated Corey Service 6-1, 6-0.
HOUGHTON 7, Nazareth 2
Houghton men's tennis improved to 6-6 on the year and 2-2 in the Empire 8 Conference after a 7-2 win over Nazareth on Wednesday.
It's the fourth-straight match win for the Highlanders, who swept all three double matches and got wins in second through fifth singles.

The No. 24 Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team continued its winning streak Wednesday with a 7-2 win over New York University.
The win moved Stevens to 12-5 while NYU fell to 3-5. With the victory, the Ducks have now avenged losses to four teams this season that beat them in 2014.
The Ducks put themselves in a good position early thanks to a doubles sweep where all three matches ended nearly simultaneously. Juniors

Ben Foran took home the 8-3 win at No. 1 while freshman

Michael Feldman pulled-off the 8-2 win at No. 2.

Freshman
David Schulz continued the momentum with a 6-3, 6-2 win at sixth singles, but NYU bounced back with the 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3. Needing one more win to clinch, Heinrich polished-off a 6-3, 7-6 win at No. 7 to ensure the Stevens victory.
Polk and Drake won their matches at No. 5 and No. 4 respectively to wrap up the Stevens scoring.
