Stevens Cruises Past Arcadia, 17-5

HOBOKEN, N.J (April 15, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse had six players score multiple goals en route to a 17-5 victory over Arcadia University on Wednesday.
The Ducks snapped a two game losing streak and improved to 9-3 while the Knights dropped to 9-4.
Freshman midfielder Nicole Hutson opened the scoring for Arcadia 5:06 in, but over the next 11 minutes it was all Stevens as sophomores
Kathleen Kalbian and
Caroline DeLuca, junior
Erika Wilcox each scored while senior
Caitlyn Hughes netted a natural hat trick of three straight goals to go up 6-1. A second Hutson marker cut the deficit to four, but Wilcox and sophomore
Jess Leiby tallied goals to up the lead, but a goal by sophomore Erin Misner sent the Knights into the half trailing by five with her goal with 58 seconds remaining.
Stevens came back out strong in the second stanza with DeLuca, and freshmen
Cami Santor and
Julianna Ricci each potting goals with Wilcox collecting a pair of helpers. Junior Dawn Faranetta had two second half goals sandwiched around tallies from Kalbian and Ricci. In the final five minutes, the Ducks netted the four goals, including a pair of Ricci.
Leiby netted two goals on two shots while Ricci and Kalbian filled the stat sheet. Ricci had four goals, six shots, four ground balls and three draw controls while Kalbian had six shots five ground balls, three caused turnovers and seven draw controls. Freshman
Stephanie Schnelzer combined with juniors Angela Barouth and
Catie Shelton to make five saves.
Faranetta led the Knights with four shots on goal while collecting her 200 career point while Misner had three shots and three ground balls.
Stevens is on the road this weekend, taking on Houghton Friday at 5 p.m. before taking on Alfred on Saturday at 1 p.m.
