Fisher Wins 2015 Men's Golf Empire 8 Championship

The nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College men's golf team captured its fifth straight Empire 8 Golf Championship and tenth in the last 11 years on Sunday at the par 71 Hershey Golf Country Club in Pennsylvania. The Cardinals shot a combined 294 in Sunday's final round to finish with a four-day total of 1217, defeating runner-up Moravian College, who closed out with a final score of 1267.
As the Empire 8 champion Fisher receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship May 12-15 in Greensboro, NC.
Fisher's junior Corey Haas shot a 71 on Sunday, finishing with a four-round total of 303 (78-81-73-71). Haas, who posted the tournament's lowest overall score, was named as the Empire 8 Conference's Player of the Year, marking the fifth straight year a Fisher athlete has earned the honor.
Moravian's Tyler Smith was named the Empire 8's Rookie of the Year. The freshman finished the tournament with a 316 (84-77-79-76). Smith's honor marks the first E8 rookie award for the Greyhounds.
