Ithaca Wins Jack Leaman Invitational

AMHERST, Mass. – The Ithaca College women's golf team won the championship of the Jack Leaman Invitational hosted by Amherst College at Hickory Ridge Golf Club. The tournament was reduced to an 18-hole format instead of the usual 36-hole event due to unplayable conditions the scheduled site of the second round.
 
Ithaca's score of 324 on the par-74 layout edged two nationally-ranked teams who tied for second just one stroke back with totals of 325. It is the third consecutive year that Ithaca has claimed the team championship of the Jack Leaman Invitational.
 
Three Ithaca players ranked among the top-10 individuals and that consistent scoring from the top of the lineup led to the victory. Taylor MacDonald carded a career-best round of 79 and tied for fifth overall among all players. Sharon Li was fourth with a 78 and Kelsey Baker was ninth with an 81. The fourth score that contributed to the team total came from Indiana Jones, who was tied for 29th with a score of 86. Kyra Denish posted 90 and was tied for 41st in the field of 64.
 
Ithaca will host the Ithaca Spring Invitational on Saturday and Sunday April 25-26 at the Country Club of Ithaca. That is the final regular-season scheduled tournament for the Bombers who will also be under consideration for an at-large invitation to the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships. The NCAA field will be announced May 4.
