Ithaca Wraps Regular Season With Win

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Ithaca College women's tennis concluded regular-season play with a 5-4 dual-match victory over William Smith on Thursday night at Glazer Arena. Ithaca won two of three doubles matches and added three wins in singles matches to clinch the victory. Ithaca improved its record to 13-8. William Smith was ranked 20th in the Northeast Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and is 7-8 on the season.

Ithaca honored its four seniors prior to the match. The quartet of Kelly Fishback, Carly Siegel, Alyssa Steinweis and Allison Vizgaitis has helped Ithaca to 55 dual-match victories over the last four years, four Empire 8 Championships and three wins in the NCAA Tournament.

The Bombers got on the board with an 8-3 win at third doubles by Fishback and Steinweis and an 8-4 win at first doubles by Haley Kusak and Siegel. The third doubles match went to William Smith in a tiebreak.

The Herons claimed the first two singles matches that finished to tie the match 3-3, but Ithaca picked up victories by Kusak in three sets and a straight-sets win by Steinweis to claim the dual-match victory.

Ithaca's next match will take place in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. The tournament bracket will be announced May 4 and Ithaca will find out at that time its first-round opponent and location of its regional. Those matches will take place on the weekend of May 8.
