EWING, N.J. (April 25, 2015)
– The Stevens Institute of Technology women's outdoor track and field team put up impressive showings at Penn Relays and at TCNJ this weekend.

Senior Amira Dardir reached a height of 1.70-meters in her primary field event, the high jump. She reached the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships last year when she jumped 1.69m, and is on pace to make her first appearance at the Outdoor National Championships in May. Last week at the Empire 8 Conference Championship meet, Dardir placed second with a jump 1.57m, and this week shattered that mark with the 1.70 leap which currently ties for ninth in DIII this year.

"These last few weeks, Amira has really been hitting her stride," Assistant Coach Ozzie Brown said. "I knew it was a matter of time until she hit a big jump in the HJ (high jump). I am really happy for her that it came at such a big meet, especially since she has been really looking forward to competing at Penn Relays."

Meanwhile, the rest of the Ducks participated in the Lions Invite hosted by The College of New Jersey on Saturday. Junior Gladys Njoku placed ninth in the 100-meter dash, besting several Division I runners. Njoku also won the high jump, setting a school record and the fifth highest mark in Division III history with a 1.77m jump, which also is the highest mark in Division III this year.

Katie Weeks competed in the long jump prelims, reaching 5.13m, which put her ninth and was better than several competitors from fellow NJ schools Rowan, Rider, Ramapo and Stockton. Weeks also jumped in the triple jump preliminaries, reaching 10.68. She qualified for the finals in both events.

The Ducks are back in action Friday at the Matthew Vassar Twilight beginning at 3 p.m.
