Houghton Closes Season with Loss at SUNY Canton
CANTON, N.Y. -- The 2015 Houghton men's lacrosse season came to an end with an 18-6 loss at the hands of SUNY Canton on Tuesday.
Houghton fell behind 7-1 after the first quarter, trailed 9-1 at the half, and never recovered.
Despite winning 18 of 27 faceoffs and getting off 54 shots, the Highlander offense couldn't produce many scoring chances. Just 19 shots made it on cage for the visitors.
The Roos managed to get off 61 shots, with 35 on goal. The hosts also held a 60-53 edge in groundballs and forced 34 Houghton turnovers.
Justin Flint finished with two goals, while Paul Chapman, Ryan Palmer, Josh Bailey and Sean Daigler each scored one apiece. Daigler produced a team-high 10 groundballs. Nathan Moore was 18 of 26 on faceoffs.
Josh Haingray place nearly 58 minutes, allowing all 18 goals and making 17 saves. Jordan Warren didn't face any shots in the final two minutes of action.
Houghton finishes the season with a record of 1-14.
