ALFRED, NY – Jason Lockner, head men's lacrosse coach at Alfred University, has been chosen to coach in the prestigious United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association North-South Game.

The North-South Game, scheduled for May 22 at Cabrini College in Radnor, PA, pits Division III all-stars from teams in North (generally colleges and universities in New York State and New England) against teams in the South (primarily Mid-Atlantic states like New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia, along with Ohio). Lockner was notified by the USILA on Monday that he had been chosen to coach the North squad.

"It's an honor to be able to coach in this game," Lockner said. "I'm excited for this opportunity, not only for me but for my coaching staff. It will be a great experience."

The North-South Game dates back to 1940, when the first college lacrosse all-star game was played in Baltimore. In 1991, the USILA split the event and created two games: one for Division I and II teams; another for Division III teams. Lockner will be the third AU coach ever to lead a team in the North-South Game. Former coaches Al Brown (in 1992) and Preston Chapman (in 2003) also coached the North Team. Lockner will bring two of his assistant, Adam DuPree and Jake Spadoni, to help him coach this year's game.

AU is 12-3, with the 12 coaching wins the most Lockner has earned in his 10 seasons at the Saxons' helm. His 5-3 mark in Empire 8 play is also the best-ever conference mark for an AU team in the 16-year history of the league.

The Saxons wrapped up their regular season Saturday with a win at Hartwick and now awaits word on a potential Eastern College Athletic Conference tournament bid. The ECAC will announce the field for its Mid-Atlantic Championship tournament on Monday, May 4.
