Traglia 'Steals' Record as Pioneers Cruise Past SUNY Poly
Utica, NY (4/29/15)- The Utica College softball team combined to score 29 runs as it downed host SUNY Poly in a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday afternoon. Utica topped the Wildcats 15-0 and 14-5 to improve to 16-16 on the year.
Senior
Christy Traglia (Mohawk, NY/Mohawk) recorded one steal in each game to break the College's career stolen base record, previously held by Laura Meagher '06. Traglia now has 43 steals in her career and is currently third on the team with nine stolen bases this season.
Utica tallied four home runs on the day, led by junior
Alysa Russell (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) who had one in each game.

Senior
Courtney Fitzgerald (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) led the Pioneers going 4-for-4 at the plate, including one home run, with four runs scored and six RBI. Senior
Stephanie Siriano (Sauquoit, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) was 3-for-4 with two RBI, while
Christy Traglia (Mohawk, NY/Mohawk) was 3-for-3.
The Pioneers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first as Russell hit a solo home run and freshman
Sabrina Stransky (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) drove in a score with a double down the left field line. Utica totaled three runs over the next two innings, before breaking the game open with ten runs in the final two innings to seal the victory.

Sabrina Stransky (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) was 2-for-3 with her third homer of the year. Classmates
Samantha Husak (Jackson, MI/Grass Lake),
Samantha Whitehouse (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich), and
Alaina Wickwire (Towanda, PA/Towanda) each added one hit, while Stransky allowed just two base runners and struck out four for her second win of the season.
Utica 14, SUNY Poly 5- Game Two Final
Eight different Pioneers recorded at least one hit, led by
Samantha Husak (Jackson, MI/Grass Lake), who was 3-for-5 with two RBI. Russell once again got Utica on the board in the top of the first inning as she blasted her team leading fifth home run of the season. She now has 16 career home runs, tying her for third place on the College's all-time list.
Russell, Siriano, Fitzgerald, Stransky,
Kassidy Ogren (Albany, NY/Colonie Central), and Traglia each had two hits, while freshman
Madison Williams (Prospect, NY/Holland Patent) had one hit. Traglia, Williams, and Siriano each had one stolen base as well.
Abby Monroe (Watertown, NY/General Brown) struck out five in six innings of work for her eighth win of the season, while
Brittany Meka (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) fanned all three batters she faced in the seventh inning.
Utica wraps up its 2015 campaign Thursday as it hosts Cazenovia College. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
