2015 Softball Tournament Quick Facts and Live Coverage
The 2015 Empire 8 Softball Tournament is ready to get underway this weekend, with four teams battling for a chance to win the postseason conference championship and earn the E8's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Softball Championship.
The playoffs begin on Friday, May 1 with four games. Second-seeded Ithaca College plays third-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology at 10am, followed by top-seeded Alfred University verse fourth-seeded St. John FIsher College at 12pm. The losers of the first two games are scheduled to play at 2:30 pm in an elminiation game, while the winners from games one and two will play each other at 4:30 pm.
The tournament will continue with two games Saturday, and one more, if necessary, on Sunday.

*If weather prevents either play on Friday or Saturday, they will be pushed into Sunday. If the weather prevents play on BOTH Friday and Saturday, we will switch to a single elimination tournament with all games occurring on Sunday. Times to be determined.

Tournament Quick Facts
The Empire 8 Athletic Conference will employ a four team double-elimination tournament format for the 14th straight year (2002-2015).
Alfred is back in the tournament for the eighth straight year and ninth overall.
The Saxons will serve as the No. 1 seed for the second time - also No. 1 in 2010.
Alfred and Stevens have never won the Softball Championship.
The Bombers have only missed the tournament once (2013).
Ithaca will be the No. 2 seed for the second time in tournament history.
Ithaca has won the Championship nine times (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2014).
The longest tournament game went 16 innings in 2009 with Ithaca defeating RIT, 1-0.
Stevens is making its fourth appearance in the tournament since joining the E8 conference in 2007-08.
Fisher has appeared in every tournament except one - last year in 2014.
Fisher has won the Championship four times (2008, 2009, 2011, 2013).
Alfred is 7-4 all time in the tournament including a 4-11 mark against other teams in the tournament.
Ithaca is an impressive 34-10 in the E8 postseason with a 22-8 record against 2015 tournament teams.
Stevens has never won an E8 tournament game (0-6).
Fisher's record in the E8 tournament is 28-20 with a 12-15 mark against other teams in the 2015 tournament.
