Ithaca Competes At Muhlenberg and Ramapo

ALLENTOWN, PA.—The Ithaca College men's track & field team split their roster between two meets this weekend. Most of the men's squad competed at the Muhlenberg Invitational in Allentown, Pa., while some field athletes traveled, with the women's track & field team, to the Roadrunner Invitational at Ramapo College.

Senior Rashaad Barrett led the Bombers with a first place finish in the 100-meter dash. Barrett finished in 11.04 seconds. Tyler Curtis finished fifth in the dash with a time of 11.28 seconds and Matthias placed eighth, clocking a time of 11.41 seconds.

Barrett also competed in four other events at Muhlenberg. He secured a second place finish in the 200-meter dash, sixth place in the long jump and eighth place in the 400-meter run. Barrett also ran a leg on Ithaca's 4x100-meter relay team, which finished in second place. Barrett clocked a time of 23.03 seconds in the 200-meter, 52.03 seconds in the 400-meter and jumped 6.25 meters in the long jump.

Three other Ithaca athletes competed in the 200-meter dash. Aaron Matthias finished in third place, Jordan Smith took fifth and Tyler Curtis placed seventh. Matthias ran a time of 23.17 seconds, while J. Smith completed the dash in 23.34 seconds and Curtis finished in 23.47 seconds.

Gerardo Munoz, Jordan Smith and Kyle MacKinnon represented Ithaca in the 400-meter run. Munoz finished in second place with a time of 50.49 seconds. Smith completed the race in 51.10 seconds to take fourth and MacKinnon took seventh in 51.59 seconds.

In the 800-meter dash, senior Dennis Ryan finished in third and junior Larkin Bohanan placed fifth. Ryan clocked a time of 1:58.89 and Bohanan crossed the finish line in 1:59.70.

Dane Eckweiler took third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 57.52 seconds and Andrew Ward completed the 110-meter hurdles in 16.45 seconds to place eighth.

Andrew Brandt was the runner up in the high jump, reaching 1.98 meters to take second.

Brendan Davis secured fourth place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, clocking a time of 10:08.27.

Sean Phillips, Tim Chappell and Stephen Gomez finished in fourth, sixth and ninth place in the 1500-meter run. Phillips completed the race in 4:08.77, while Chappell finished in 4:09.69 and Gomez in 4:12.25.

The Bombers 'A' and 'B' teams placed second and sixth in the 4x100-meter relay. Ithaca also took fifth overall in the 4x400-meter relay. The Ithaca 'A' quad consisting of Barrett, Matthias, Shane Connor and J. Smith finished the 4x100 relay in 42.80 seconds. MacKinnon, Munoz, Cam Denmark and Nick DiNapoli made up the other 4x100-meter relay team that took sixth in 45.39 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay team consisting of J. Smith, Munoz, John Fausold and Dennis Ryan finished fifth in 3:32.58.

MAHWAH, N.J.—Ithaca College field athletes; JT Buttimer, Larry Cass, Sam Cherney, Gabe Shakour Rob Terano and  Cameron Willette represented Ithaca at the Roadrunner Invitational.

Buttimer paced the group, throwing 37.38 meters in the hammer throw. Willette reached 35.17 meters, while Cherney threw 35.67 meters and Terano hit 32.80 meters.

Cass led in the shot put, reaching a distance of 11.58 meters. Terano threw 11.10 meters in the shot put and Cherney's measured 10.76 meters.

Cherney threw 39.35 meters in the discus throw, while Cass and Shakour threw 35.54 meters and 35.45 meters.

The men's javelin throw was not concluded due to winds conditions.
