Fisher Wraps up at Colonial Relays
The St. John Fisher College men's track and field team wrapped up a 3-day meet at the 50th annual Colonial Relays, hosted by The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va. The squad broke several school records, along with setting ECAC-qualifying marks and NYSCTC standards.
James Felice set a new school record in the 1,500 meter-run with a time of 4:03.48, nearly hitting the NYSCTC A standard.
Fisher's 4x100 meter really squad of Joe D'Agostino, Will Sterriker, Trevor Wilkes and Devin Cornelius broke the school record and qualified for ECACs in a time of 43.45 seconds to finish in 14th place.
Brandon Fuentes highlighted the day in the field events shattering the previous school record in the triple jump of 12.71 meters with a mark of 13.62 meters to earn a third-place finish. In addition, Fuentes' mark qualifies him for ECACs later this season. Teammate Mark VanMarter also qualifies for ECACs after a jump of 13.23 meters earned him an 11th-place finish.
VanMarter jumpted to a seventh place finish and setting a new school record in the Championship heat with a mark of 7.12 meters, also qualifying him for ECACs. VanMarter also placed fourth in the University heat of the high jump at 1.89 meters, while teammate Bryan Rollins hit the same exact height, each NYSCTC Standard A marks.
Joe D'Agostino ran a blistering 200 in a time of 22.23 seconds to break his own school record and finish in 21st place. The 22.33 time is an ECAC qualifying mark.
Brandon Fuentes competed in the University heat for the long jump and came in 15th place at 6.49 meters which is a NYSCTC Standard A.
Freshman Peter Girardi had an impressive first showing with an ECAC qualifying time of 15.40 in the 110 hurdles to finish in 29th place.
In the 400 hurdles Will Sterriker hit the NYSCTC B standard with a time of 58.26.
In other track action, Trevor Wilkes and James McDowell clocked 53.30 and 53.60, respectively in 400 meter dash.
