Naz and Utica Compete at U of R
UTICA
The Utica College women's track and field team opened up its outdoor season Thursday at the University of Rochester Alumni Invitational. UC was led by
Sarah Wiatr (Poland, NY/West Canada Valley) who totaled 15 points in her respective jump events for the women.
Wiatr opened up her spring campaign with a victory in the triple jump gathering 10 points with a soar of 11.51 meters. Wiatr also took fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.26 meters as she added five more points for the Utica women.
Bria Hilliard (Bronx, NY/Mother Cabrini) helped out with a sixth place finish in the hammer throw recording a toss of 39.61 meters.
NAZARETH
Nazareth's women's track and field team competed at the University of Rochester's Alumni Invitational at Fauver Stadium. The women finished 11th with 25 points.
Freshman
Kimmy Lovett finished third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:12.92 and freshman
Emily Soeder was third in the high jump as she cleared 1.54 meters (5 feet, 3/4 inch).
Nazareth's 4 x 400-meter relay team finished fourth with a time of 4:07.69. That group consisted of seniors
Hannah Brackleyand
Michaela Gildemeyer and freshmen
Samantha Goble and
Andrea Larnard. Goble and Brackley placed fifth and sixth respectively in the 800-meter run with times of 2:22.09 and 2:22.10. Gildemeyer also finished 15th in the 1,500-meter run (4:55.80).
Junior
Gabrielle LeBihan returned to action after missing the entire indoor season with an injury. She finished 19th in the 5,000-meter run (20:11.80) and was followed to the finish line by junior
Blair Meeson in 20th place (20:12.47).
Senior
Sibongile Chisi finished ninth in the pole vault at 2.83 meters (9 feet, 3 1/4 inches) and junior
Taylor Pierson finished 10th in the long jump at 5.08 meters (16 feet, 8 inches) and 11th in the 200-meter dash (:27.94).
