CANTON  GAME 1 BOX / GAME 2 BOX
The SUNY Canton baseball team was able to salvage a split as Zach Lawrence (West Palm Beach, FL) came on in relief to throw four innings of shutout ball in game two against Southern Vermont College on Tuesday. The Roos won the nightcap 5-2 after dropping the opener 3-0.

Game 1
The Roos looked to have something going in the top of the third as Greg Dobies (Schenectady, NY) led off with a single to right center. Bobby Clemente (Carolina, Puerto Rico) laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Dobies to second and he later advanced to third on a groundout by Christian Nazario-Cruz (Naguabo, Puerto Rico). After a Wilson Matos (Brooklyn, NY) walk the inning would end on a fielder's choice.

SUNY Canton got out of a jam in the bottom of the inning as the Mountaineers moved a base runner to third with less than two outs. However, Travis Bigelow (Ottawa, ON) came up big striking out two batters, one swinging and the other looking, to end the frame.

Southern Vermont would plate all of the contest's runs in the bottom of the fifth. The Mountaineers led off the inning reaching on an error and followed with a single. A sacrifice bunt moved a pair of runners into scoring position. SVC plated two on a double to left center and followed with a single up the middle to make it 3-0 after five.

SUNY Canton brought the tying run to the plate in the seventh with runners on first and second but was unable to complete the comeback. Bigelow did not give up a single earned run striking out six batters in six innings of action on the mound.

Game 2
The visitors got on the board first in the nightcap as Matos brought home Nazario-Cruz on a sacrifice fly to right field in the opening inning. The Mountaineers took the lead with two runs in the third after a pair of RBI singles to right center and through the right side of the infield.

Trailing by one after three inning Head Coach Joe Carbone went to the bullpen in the fourth as Lawrence got the nod. He threw four innings of two hit ball striking out five batters. The sophomore received enough run support as the Roos exploded for four runs in the sixth.

Seth Douglas (Reedsburg, WI) drew a leadoff walk and Jeremy Baez (Bronx, NY) also advanced on a free pass. With one down the runners advanced a base each on a wild pitch. Jesse Barton (Belle Glade, FL) singled through the left side to plate Douglas. Chris Roenbeck (Plattsburgh, NY) loaded the bases after being hit by a pitch and Dobies came on to pinch-hit.

Dobies laced a single down the left field line to bring home Baez and Barton. With two down Matos singled through the left side. The Roos added their fourth tally of the inning when Brandon Welch (Constable, NY) was hit by a pitch to bring Matt Hall (Palmyra, NY) across.

That would be all Lawrence would need on the mound retiring six of the final batters he faced en route to his first win of the season. Matos, Barton and Nicolas Demarais all produced multi-hit games for the Roos. Dobies drove in two runs, while Matos, Welch and Barton each finished with an RBI.

ITHACA  Box Score
The Ithaca College baseball team was shutout by Rochester, 2-0, on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference game on the road. The loss snaps Ithaca's five-game winning streak and drops the Bombers to 7-8 on the season, while Rochester improves to 14-7.

The Yellowjackets scored unearned runs in the third and sixth innings, and rode the arm of Josh Shulman to a complete game shutout.

Ithaca senior Andrew Sanders also tossed a complete game in a losing effort. Sanders scattered four hits over eight innings and struck out three batters with one walk. He is now 2-3 on the season with a 0.97 earned run average.

The Bombers notched nine hits in the game, but were unable to record one with runners in scoring position.

In the top of the seventh, Ithaca had runners on second and third with one out after junior Stephen Yanchus reached on a single and senior Matt Connolly found his way on via catcher's inference. A sacrifice bunt moved both runners up, but a fielder's choice at home retired Yanchus, and the next batter popped out.

The Bombers found themselves in a similar situation in the eighth - junior Zach Cole walked and sophomore Trevor Thompson singled with one out. Freshman Domenic Boresta pinch ran for Cole and was thrown out at home during another fielder's choice for the second out, and an ensuing ground out ended the inning.

Thompson went 2-for-4 at the plate, as did junior Zach Pidgeon.

ELMIRA BOX SCORE
The Elmira College baseball team held a 3-2 lead entering the top of the seventh inning but a three-run home run by the Pennsylvania College of Technology proved disastrous as the Soaring Eagles dropped a non-conference home game to the Wildcats, 5-3.

Alexander Taulien '17 got the start for the Soaring Eagles and would toss seven full innings with four strikeouts.  Zack Stone '18 came in for relief duty in the eighth and allowed just one hit while striking out three batters.

Seven Elmira batters registered hits, including Jack Thistle '18 who was only player to log a multi-hit game as he went 2-for-4 from the plate with a pair of singles and an RBI.  Joe Kidd '18 also had a noteworthy evening from the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Kidd drove-in the game's first runs in the bottom of the first inning as he delivered a two-out single to center field, bringing home Hayden Rothenberg '17 and Dylan Bellinger '17, who reached safely earlier in the inning on a single and a walk, respectively.

Penn College got a run back in the top half of the second inning, as the Wildcats pieced together three consecutive singles, followed by Taulien hitting the next better which cut Elmira's lead to 2-1.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Elmira still led 2-1 and with two outs the Soaring Eagles reclaimed their two-run lead.  Rothenberg began the two-out rally as he was hit by a pitch and would steal second, putting himself in scoring position.  Thistle would make the Wildcats pay for their two-out hit by pitch as he laced a hit into center field, scoring Rothenberg to give Elmira a 3-1 lead.

The Wildcats trimmed Elmira's lead to 3-2 in the top of the fifth inning thanks to a one-out RBI double by Evan Vigna.  Two innings later, with two Wildcat runners on base, Zach Weil sent a towering shot over the left field wall to give Penn College a 5-3 lead.

Trailing by two runs, Elmira looked to cut into Penn College's lead and nearly did so in the bottom of the eighth inning when EC loaded the bases with just one out.  Unfortunately, Elmira's next two batters would fly out and strike out, ending the Elmira threat.

Elmira would also strand a runner in the bottom of the ninth as the Soaring Eagles suffered another close loss at home.
