Six Empire 8 student-athletes have been named Corvia ECAC Division III Upstate and Mid-Atlantic Players of the Week for the week of March 30-April 5, 2015.
 
Men’s Lacrosse – Mid Atlantic
Offensive Player of the Week
Troy Haefele – Nazareth College, Jr., A, Greene, Maine
Haefele led the Golden Flyers to two more victories last week as he totaled 15 points on eight goals and seven assists.  He had 10 points on six goals and four assists in a 17-1 win over Utica.  He added five points on two goals and three assists in a 15-3 win at Hartwick.
 
Softball – Upstate
Player of the Week
Liz Thompson – Alfred University, So., 3B, Horseheads, N.Y.
Thompson batted .857 (12-for-14) as the Saxons swept home doubleheaders from Rochester Institute of Technology and Medaille.  She had two doubles and a triple, scored nine runs and drove in four.  She was also 5-for-5 on stolen base attempts.
 
Softball – Upstate
Pitcher of the Week
Laura Quicker – Ithaca College, Jr., P, West Islip, N.Y.
Quicker went 2-1 this past week for the Bombers, pitching three complete games in the process.  She recorded a 0.86 earned run average over 24.1 innings pitched, holding batters to a .179 average over that stretch.  She picked up 16 strikeouts while allowing just three earned runs
 
Baseball – Upstate
Co-Pitcher of the Week
Joshua Webb – Utica College, Junior, Verona, N.Y.
Joshua Webb registered a complete game shutout and allowed just three hits, while striking out 11, in the Pioneers 8-0 victory over Elmira College on Saturday. He threw 93 pitches, secured six ground outs and three fly outs, and his 11 strike outs matched a season-high.
 
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field - Upstate
Co-Rookies of the Week
Mark VanMarter – St. John Fisher College, Fr., Syracuse, N.Y.
VanMarter picked up right where he left off after the indoor season, jumping to a seventh place finish and setting a new school record in the Championship heat at the Colonial Relays with a mark of 7.12 meters, also qualifying him for ECACs. He qualified for ECAC’s in the triple jump with a mark of 13.23 meters to finish 11th. VanMarter also placed fourth in the University heat of the high jump at 1.89.
 
Men’s Tennis – Upstate
Player of the Week
Chris Hayes – Ithaca College, Junior, Rochester, N.Y.
Hayes posted two doubles wins and a singles win for Ithaca in two Empire 8 dual-matches last week. Against Utica, the junior recorded a 6-1, 6-2 win at third singles and teamed with Nate Wolf for an 8-0 victory at second doubles. Against nationally –ranked Stevens, he partnered with Lorenzo Viguie-Ramos for a 9-7 win at No. 2 doubles.
