Scranton Opens Spring Season; Moravian Third at Spring Invite

Sophomore Kevin Nardella fired an 9-over-par 80 to lead the men's golf team in its season-opening tri-match against Keystone College and Marywood University on Thursday afternoon at chilly Stonehedge Golf Course.
The Royals finished with a 334 team total, edging Keystone by a stroke, but falling to Marywood and its 314 total on the 6,201-yard, par-71 layout.
Freshman Frank Argenti delivered a career-low 83 for the Royals, who also received an 85 from freshman Warren Rozelle and an 86 from junior Eric Montella to round out the team's top four scores.
Moravian - Results
The Moravian College golf team placed third at its own Spring Invitational played at the Woodstone Country Club on a cold, brick Thursday afternoon.
The Hounds finished in a tie with Rutgers-Camden with a four-man team score of 318 but the Scarlet Knights finished ahead of the Greyhounds with a better score from the fifth golfer. Franklin & Marshall won the 11-team tournament with a score of 310.
Junior Evan Dickinson and freshman Tyler Smith each tied for seventh of the 57 golfers with rounds of 78 on the par 72 Woodstone course, which just opened for the season. Dickinson had one birdie and 11 pars in his round while Smithcarded 12 pars. Sophomore Dan Leppert had a round of 80 that included 12 pars to tie for 14th while junior Jim Maru was tied for 21st with an 82 as he had eight pars.
Freshman Kevin Kunkle was 26th in the tournament with an 83 including a birdie and six pars while freshman Matt Miksiewicz and junior James Lobb played as individuals with rounds of 96 and 97. Miksiewicz had six pars in his round while Lobb carded three pars.
