ECAC Athletes of the Week: April 27-May 3, 2015

Three Empire 8 student-athletes have been named Corvias ECAC Division III Upstate Players of the Week for the week of April 27-May 3, 2015.
 
Softball – Upstate
Player of the Week:
Alysa Russell – Utica College, Jr., SS, Mechanicville, N.Y.
Russell went 9-for-15 with eight RBI and eight runs scored as Utica went 4-0 last week. In addition, the junior recorded seven extra-base hits and smashed four home runs. Russell ends the season with a .472 average, 50 hits and seven home runs.

Softball – Upstate
Co-Pitcher of the Week:
Kerri Keeler – Alfred University, Fr., Jamesville, N.Y.
Keeler notched four victories and one save last week for the Saxons. The freshman tallied three wins in the Empire 8 tournament, tossing complete-game shutouts against Stevens and Ithaca before earning the victory in a 3-2 win over St. John Fisher in the championship game.
 
Men’s Tennis – Upstate
Player of the Week:
Matthew Heinrich – Stevens Institute of Technology, Junior, Hendersonville, Tenn.
Heinrich led Stevens to its sixth consecutive Empire 8 Conference championship on Sunday after an undefeated weekend at first singles and doubles. Heinrich teamed with junior Ben Foran for a pair of wins at No. 1 doubles before winning at No. 1 singles in Saturday's semi. For his efforts, Heinrich was named the championship's MVP for the third time in as many years.
