Benji Parkes (Lansing, NY/Lansing) is a junior baseball pitcher for Ithaca College with a dual major in Physical Education and Healthy Promotion.

Why did you choose to attend Ithaca College?
I chose Ithaca College for the Physical Education and health Program, to be close to home when necessary and to be a part of the storied baseball program.
What has been the greatest part of your experience as a college athlete?
I’ve enjoyed the camaraderie with my teammates; being able to get to know the students as well as the athletes on campus.
Who has been the most influential person during your athletic career? Why?
Coach Valesente - He has helped me on and off the field to become a better person.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I hope to be teaching physical education in a high school, as well as coaching a varsity soccer and baseball program.
What do you like most about competing in the E8?
I like the competitiveness of the conference. And being able play against athletes I played with from high school and around the country.
What do you do in your spare time?
I don’t have a lot of spare time. But I do like to hang out with friends and teammates on campus and enjoy the weather when it’s nice in Ithaca.

What is something most people don’t know about you?
I'm musically inclined. I played the trumpet in high school as well as being in a select choir and symphony orchestra.
