Sharon Li Opens Play At NCAA Championship
HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – Ithaca College senior
Sharon Li completed the first day of competition at the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship on Tuesday at the Mission Inn Resort.
Li posted a score of 10-over-par 82 on the par-72 layout on the El Campeon Course, which played to 5,844 yards. Li's score ties her for 30th in the individual standings through one round out of 110 participants.
Li started on the 10th hole, hitting par on four of the nine holes. She bogeyed four other holes on her first nine, before hitting a triple bogey on the 18th hole to give her an outgoing 43.
Li opened her second nine with two-straight pars. She then recorded a double bogey and two more pars, before bogeying the sixth hole. Li closed the day with three-straight pars, giving her a second-nine score of 39, which was three over par.
After one round of play Li is 10 strokes behind leader Olivia Lugar of Washington-St. Louis. Lugar's score reflects only 15 holes of play due to a lightning delay that lasted two hours in the middle of the first round of competition.
Li, who is paired with two other individual entries, will begin from the first tee in Wednesday's second round with tee times beginning at 7:45 a.m. through 8:25 a.m.
