The nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College men's golf team shot a 303 on Wednesday, as the Cardinals were one of the 15 institutions to make the cut at the NCAA Division III Championship at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C.

After shooting a 302 on Tuesday, Fisher has a two-day total of 605 and trails first-place Redlands University by 24 strokes.  The Cardinals, who have never missed the cut in NCAA Championship competition, are tied for 14th place and are just eight shots out of 10th.

Fisher rallied in its final nine holes to make the cut.  After making the turn at +10 for the day, Fisher's No. 2, 3 and 4 golfers played even-par on the back 9.
It still came down to Corey Haas, Fisher's No. 1 and final golfer of the day.  After a three-putt double-bogey on the 17th hole, Haas needed just a par on the 18th to help his team make the cut.

After going long on his third shot on the par-5, 570-yard 18th, Haas beautifully chipped to within four feet and the Empire 8 Player of the Year calmly sank the testy four-footer to avoid a playoff with Central College, who finished the tournament at 606, good for 16th place (only 15 teams advanced to the third and fourth round).

Senior Chris Blyth put forth a solid, steady round, finishing at +1 for the day, posting one birdie, two bogeys and 15 pars.   He's in 28th place overall at +3 after two rounds. Haas shot a 78 (+6), while sophomore Karl Deuble finished at +4, carding pars on all nine holes on the back side.  Classmate Devin Solar also finished at +4 and was just one-over on the back 9.
