Li Moves Up To Sixth Place At NCAA Golf Championship

Sharon Li had a strong showing on the second day of play Wednesday at the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship at the Mission Inn Resort. Li posted a 3-over-par 75 on the par-72 layout of the El Campeon Course, marking a seven-shot improvement from the first round of competition. The course plays to 5,844 yards.
Li opened the round with six-straight pars. She then recorded a birdie on the par-5 seventh, followed by a par and bogey on the final two holes of the front nine for a score of 36 (E).
After the turn, Li hit for par on holes 10 and 11, before sinking her second birdie of the day on the par-3 12th. After three-straight bogeys, Li recorded another birdie on the par-4 16th. She closed the round with a par and double bogey, pushing her second nine score to 39 (+3).
Li's second round score of 75 marked the second lowest total of the day and pushed her two-day score to 157. Li's strong performance on day two moved her up 23 spots in the standings, as she now sits tied for sixth among all individuals. McKenzie Ralston of Mary Hardin-Baylor leads the group with a two-day score of 145, which is 12 strokes ahead of Li.
Li will compete in the third round on Thursday, May 14.
