Meet Results
The Empire 8 men's track and field athletes wrapped up competed at the ECAC outdoor championships Thursday and Friday at Springfield College.

ALFRED
Saxon freshman Seth Spicer (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) finished sixth in the decathlon with 5,777 points, a 171-point improvement over his personal best coming into the championships, while the AU 4X800-meter relay team set a new school record.
 
Spicer competed Friday in the 110-meter hurdles (16.23 seconds, sixth in the field); the discus (27.20 meters, ninth); the pole vault (2.98 meters, 11th), the javelin (38.99 meters, 10th); and the 1,500-meter run (4:32.57, second).
 
During Thursday's opening day, Spicer competed in the decathlon's first five events. He had the 12th-fastest 100-meter dash time (12.09 seconds) among the 15 athletes competing, then finished fourth in both the long jump (6.25 meters) and shot put (11.60 meters); tied for second in the high jump (1.78 meters); and ran a 52.89-second 400-meter dash. His marks in the long jump, high jump and 400 meters were all personal bests.

AU senior Sean Locker (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post West) took second in the javelin, breaking his own school record.
 
Locker threw the javelin 60.77 meters, shattering the school record of 59.77 meters he set in winning an Empire 8 Conference title as a junior in 2014.

 
The Saxons' team (five runners, including an alternate) of freshman Erik Diehl (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence), junior Ethan Foster (Bolivar, NY/Bolivar-Richburg), senior Eddie Potter (Lansing, NY/Lansing), freshman Matt Roder (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) and sophomore Luke Tesoriero (Cortland, NY/Homer) competed in the 4X800-meter relay, finished in a school-record time of 7:55.94.
 
Junior Ian Bishop (Bronx, NY/Bronxwood Prep) placed 25th in the shot put (13.84 meters).


ITHACA
Freshman Seth Abbott also took 10th in the decathlon. He scored 5,570 points overall. Abbott marked a personal-best third place finish on the day in the pole vault, after clearing 3.88 meters. He ran a time of 12.06 in the 100-meter dash and hit a mark of 5.78 meters in the long jump. In the shot put, Abbott reached a distance of 9.22 meters and cleared a height of 1.72 meters in the high jump. In his final event of the day, Abbott placed 10th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.34 seconds. After day one, Abbott has accumulated 667 points in the decathlon.

Sophomore Larry Cass participated in the hammer throw, reaching a length of 47.11 meters.

Senior Rashaad Barrett and junior Aaron Matthias ran in the 110-meter dash prelims. Barrett clocked a time of 11.00 seconds, while Matthias completed the dash in 11.16 seconds.

Ithaca's 4x400-meter relay team earned a time of 3:23.90. The relay team consisted of Gerardo MunozJordan Smith, Barrett, and Kyle MacKinnon.

Junior Stephen Gomez and sophomore Sean Phillips represented the Bombers in the 5,000 meter run. Gomez ran a time of 15:46.84 and Phillips clocked a time of 15:48.51.

Freshman Tim Chappell ran a time of 32:54.42 in the 10,000-meter run. 

Andrew Brandt secured a team-best ninth place finish on the day. Brandt cleared 1.98 meters in the high jump.

Ithaca 4x800-meter relay team took 10th with a time of 7:54.05. The relay team consisted of Brendan DavisMason MannSean Phillips and Dennis Ryan.

Junior Aaron Matthias and senior Rashaad Barrett both competed in the 200-meter dash. Matthias clocked a time of 22.59 seconds, while Barrett ran a time of 22.85 seconds.

Matthias also represented Ithaca in the long jump and marked 6.66 meters in the jump.


NAZARETH
Junior Khiary Gayle broke his own school outdoor record in the triple jump Thursday as selected members of the Golden Flyers' track and field teams competed in the ECAC Championships at Springfield College.

Gayle leaped 14.19 meters (46 feet, 6 3/4 inches) to finish in seventh place in the two-day competition. Junior Luis Rivera also competed in the hammer throw and also placed seventh with a toss of 56.44 meters (185 feet, 2 inches).


 
ST. JOHN FISHER
Chris Wehner finished the 110 hurdles race in 15.81 seconds.

Mark VanMarter surpassed his school record once again in the long jump.  His mark of 7.28 meters earned him a fourth place finish and moves him into sixth position on the D3 National Board. 

Freshman Peter Girardi shaved nearly .7 seconds off his previous school record in the 400 meter hurdles, finishing in a time of 53.34 to take second place.  That mark currently put him at 17th in the nation. 

Fisher's 4 x 800 meter relay of McQuade MilliganEvan MagnussenJames Felice and Tyler Wilkie set a new Fisher record, with a mark of 8:01.67 to finish in 23rd place.

In field action Kyle Koehler earned an eighth place finish in the shot put with a heave of 15.59 meters.

Also, Bryan Rollins recorded a jump of 1.93 meters in the high jump to finish 16th.


STEVENS
In the 4X100 relay, Kristopher AlvarezBrian FrattoRobert Pinto and Tom Halloran hit a season best mark of 43.75 seconds while in the 4X800 foursome of Greg ArabagianNicholas Zickgraf,Michael John and Louis Stengel recorded five points in their season best time of 7:53.15.
 
Alvarez also turned in his best performance of the year in the 110m hurdles while Pinto notched a seventh place finish in the high jump, reaching 2.03m.

UTICA
Rob Tutein continued his impressive junior campaign as he won his sixth straight event with another career jump.  He cleared 2.08 meters shattering his own school-record and grabbing eight points for the Pioneers. Rob's mark currently ranks 10th nationally.

Nicodemus Gambill finished second and third in his respective events.  He placed second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.84 collecting six points and finished third in the 200 meters with a clock of 21.82. Nicodemus is tied for third in the country in the 100 (10.51).
