NCAA Outdoor Championship Wraps Up

– Junior Gladys Njoku of the Stevens Institute of Technology women's track and field team claimed All-American honors as she tied for second place in the high jump at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday.

Senior Amira Dardir tied for 13th with two others, jumping 1.63-meters

Njoku and Laura Pumphrey of WPI tied for second with a jump of 1.72m while Jenna Breaker of Ripon took home first place with a height of 1.75. All three heights broke the previous stadium record of 1.70m. The 1.72 mark was tied for the second best height of the season for Njoku, as she reached 1.77m at the Lions Invitational hosted by TCNJ on April 24.

Ithaca senior Emilia Scheemaker earned her second outdoor All-American honor with a fifth place finish in the triple jump. She set a new school record with a mark of 12.19 meters (40 feet), which was 2.25 inches shy of fourth overall. Scheemaker fouled on her first attempt and then measured out 11.97 meters on her second try. After a leap of 11.60 meters on her third attempt, Scheemaker fouled two more times before her final jump of 12.19 meters.

Utica junior Sarah Wiatr placed seventh in the triple jump. Wiatr registered a leap of 11.97 meters and two points as she made her fourth appearance at National's.  This marks the first time she placed in the top nine garnering All-American status.  
 
Paige Willson of St. John Fisher College competed in the shot put on Saturday. Willson, seeded 18th coming into the national meet with a toss of 13.45 meters, finished 13th overall with 13.47 meters.
