Hillman, Brackley, Benway and Youngkrans end career at NCAA outdoor championships
CANTON, NY – Four Empire 8 track and field athletes wrapped up their careers Friday at the NCAA Division III women's outdoor track and field championships.
Alfred University senior Miasia Hillman placed 18
th in her heat in 12.50 seconds. Only the top nine runners advance to Saturday's championship round. Hillman was seeded 19
th in the event coming into the championships, with a season-best time of 12.05 seconds.
Ithaca senior
Christine Benway placed 12th in the prelims of the 100-meter hurdles. Benway clocked a time of 14.83 seconds which was just .18 seconds from the top nine in the event.
St. John Fisher College senior
Taylor Youngkrans completed her collegiate career with a ninth-place finish in the hammer throw. She was seeded to finish 14th, placed ninth overall in the hammer throw. The senior missed the All-American mark of eighth place by less than 0.8 meters.
Nazareth senior Hannah Brackely placed 16th in the prelims of the 400-meter dash. Brackley clocked a time of 57.05 seconds.
