Stevens Dominates Matthew Vassar Twilight Meet

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (May 1, 2015)
– The Stevens Institute of Technology women's track and field program turned in impressive showings at the Matthew Vassar Twilight meet Friday.
 
Freshman Katie Weeks set a personal best as well as school record in the shot put, throwing 12.40-meters while also placing first in the discus with a 33.20m toss. Senior Amira Dardir, the reigning Empire 8 Conference field athlete of the week, set a school record in her debut in the triple jump, reaching 10.86m, knocking off her opponent by .01cm.
 
Sophomore Michelle Moreira took home first place honors in the 100m dash with a time of 13.09 seconds, while junior Kate Moyer and freshman Jackie Endres had top-5 finishes in the 1,500m run. Additionally, senior Christine Hecker finished fourth in the 5,000m run with a time of 18:49.94 which not only was a personal best, but was the first time she had broken 19 minutes in this event.
 
The Ducks are back in action next Friday when both teams travel to Albany for the University of Albany Invitational beginning at 4 p.m.
