RESULTS

The Ithaca College women's track & field team won the 2015 NYSCTC Outdoor Championships hosted by St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. on Saturday. Ithaca scored 211 points as a team and topped the next closest team by 70 points.

Head Coach Jennifer Potter and her staff were named Coaching Staff of the Year.

ITHACA
Freshman Katherine Pitman matched her school record of 3.72 meters in the pole vault to finish first overall and also broke the meet record. Junior Alex Rechen also surpassed the meet record with a mark of 3.67 meters to finish in second, while sophomore Lexi Clavet took third at 3.27 meters. Sophomore Amanda Zaput finished fifth at 3.12 meters.

Sophomore Brady Smith won the discus with a mark of 40.84 meters.

Ithaca's 4x100-meter relay team won the event in 48.59 seconds. The team was made up of juniors Lizzi Dowling, Eliza Dewart, Rachel Friedman and Sarah Werner. The quartet surpassed the last year's championship time set by Utica.

The Bombers took four of the top seven positions in the 100-meter dash. Werner placed third in 12.60 seconds, while junior Christine Kelly (12.71 seconds), Dowling (12.86 seconds) and Friedman (12.92 seconds) finished fifth through seventh.

In the 100-meter hurdles, senior Christine Benway finished as a runner-up in 14.92 seconds, while junior Allie Nugent (15.97 seconds) and freshman Amber Edwards (16.03 seconds) placed fifth and sixth. Sophomore Yvonne Palacios came in third in the discus with a throw of 36.65 meters and freshman Charis Lu took fifth in 36.10 meters.

Freshman Taryn Cordani ran a time of 4:36.68 in the 1,500-meter run to finish as a runner-up and clocked a time 2:21.23 in the 800-meter run to come in eighth. Senior Alexa Rick completed the 1,500 in a time of 4:48.46 to place fifth overall, while sophomore Rachelle Sartori crossed in seventh with a time of 4:49.77.

Sophomore Natalie Meyer cleared 1.59 meters in the high jump to place second overall, while senior Leigh Martino posted a mark of 1.54 meters to finish in fifth.

Martino completed the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:03.82 to place third overall, while sophomore Kristin Lynn took eighth in 1:08.04. Senior Emilia Scheemaker measured out 11.41 meters in the triple jump to finish in third, while freshman Grace Ryan took fifth in 10.99 meters and junior Emily Williams placed sixth in 10.67 meters.

Rick also ran in the 5,000-meter run and placed fourth with a time of 18:23.76 and graduate student Allison Bartkowiak posted a time of 18:46.38 to come in eighth.

Junior Eliza Dewart took sixth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 25.89 seconds, while Kelly placed eighth in 26.32 seconds. Dewart also ran in the 400-meter dash and came in fourth with a time of 58.07 seconds.

Freshman Sophia Feuer and sophomore Colleen Smith took sixth and seventh in the 400 in times of 59.13 seconds and 59.74 seconds. Sophomore Francesca Boylan came in sixth in the shot put with a mark of 11.59 meters.

In the steeplechase, sophomore Michaela Cioffredi placed seventh with a time of 11:37.18.

The 4x400-meter relay team consisting of senior Brittany Greene, freshman Kassandra Reagan, senior Kristen Swanson and freshman Anissa Ash placed eighth in 4:10.13.

NAZARETH
Nazareth senior Hannah Brackley was named Track Athlete of the Meet Saturday as she led the Golden Flyers to a fifth-place finish at the NYSCTC Track and Field Championships at St. Lawrence University. Nazareth also finished in eighth place in the men's two-day meet as the Golden Flyers won three individual events as well as one relay.

In the women's meet, Nazareth finished with 75 team points to finish behind only Ithaca (211), St. Lawrence (141), RIT (118.5) and Rochester (92.5). In the men's meet, Nazareth finished with 61 team points. Rochester won with 134, followed by Ithaca with 112.

Brackley broke two of her own school records in the 400- and 200-meter dashes respectively. She won the 400 in :56.09 and finished second in the 200 with a time of :25.42. She also anchored Nazareth's winning 1600-meter relay that posted a time of 3:53.49 and also included senior Michaela Gildemeyer and freshmen Samantha Goble and Andrea Larnard.

Gildemeyer and Goble also went 2-3 in the 800-meter run. Gildemeyer posted a time of 2:15.62 and Goble was close behind with a personal-best of 2:17.65. Junior Gabrielle LeBihan placed sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:29.98. She was followed by freshman Kimmy Lovett in eighth place (11:40.34). Freshman Emily Soeder was third in the high jump as she cleared 1.54 meters.

The Golden Flyers also ran fifth in the 400-meter relay (:49.33) with Sibongile ChisiTaylor PiersonAmanda Entress and Brackley.

ST. JOHN FISHER
Senior Paige Willson won the shot put for the Cardinals, tallying 10 points with a throw of 13.45 meters.  Classmate Morgan Mastin enjoyed a solid all-around day, placing second in the 100 with a new record time of 12.42 seconds.  She also fifth in the 200 and joined Chelsea GruppJess Colmerauer and Chelsea Cleveland on both Fisher's 400 and 1600 relay, which earned points and set new Fisher records.

Lisa Knab was third in the high jump, while Danyelle Redmond tied her own record and placed sixth in the pole vault at 3.12 meters.

ALFRED
During the two-day competition, senior Miasia Hillman (Buffalo, NY/Hutchinson Tech) led the Saxons with two wins on the weekend. She won both the 100 Meter and 200 Meter with times of 12.25 and 25.12, respectively.
 
Freshman Lindsay Piraino (Nunda, NY/Keshequa) was the next highest finisher for Alfred University. She raced to a 38:40.56 finish in the 10,000 Meter Run. The time was good enough to secure her a fourth place finish in the event.
 
Sophomore Mary Baughman (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) also had a good finish in a distance event. She claimed fifth place in the 5,000 Meter with a time of 18:28.21, rounding out the point-scorers for the Saxons.
 
The top performers for AU who didn't claim scoring places were freshman Brynn Hyde (Homer, NY/Homer) in the discus throw, claiming ninth place with a toss of 33.56 meters, and graduate-athlete Corine Pettit (Strykersville, NY/Holland) who finished 10th in the triple jump with a distance of 10.41 meters.

UTICA
The women were led by Sarah Wiatr (Poland, NY/West Canada Valley) who totaled nine points in two events.  Wiatr took second place in the triple jump with a leap of 11.61 meters and also placed eighth in the long jump with a soar of 5.10 meters.

Thrower Alexis Edwards (Ilion, NY/Ilion) tossed the hammer 45.77 meters for a fifth place tally, grabbing four points.
