2015 Softball All-Tournament Team and MVP

The 2015 Empire 8 Softball All-Tournament Team has been announced. 

Alfred – Kerri Keeler (MVP – P), Alison Wickwire (P/DP), Sophia Chiavatti (1B), Nicole Maher (SS)
SJFC – Lindsey Thayer (P), Meghan Burns (OF), Kate Disbrow (SS)
Ithaca – Laura Quicker and Allie Colleran
Stevens – Noelle Mulligan (1B)
 
 
Keeler threw three complete-games to improve to 15-0 on the season and earn the Tournament’s Most Valuable Player. The freshman relied on her defense to make plays as she placed the ball where it was hit in the infield or popped up. Over the course of the three games, she recorded nine strikeouts and allowed two earned runs.
 
Wickwire recorded four hits in the tournament, scored two runs and tallied three RBI. She also pitched two complete games and went 1-1 in the circle. She allowed two earned runs in 14 innings for a 1.00 ERA.
 
Chiavatti had five hits and three RBI over the stretch of five games. She made 43 putouts at first base.
 
Maher totaled three hits on the weekend including a solo home run in the championship game to tie the score 1-1. From her shortstop position she had seven putouts and 18 assists.
 
Thayer went 2-2 over the weekend, pitching a total of 27 innings in four complete games with a 1.04 ERA. She allowed four earned runs on 19 hits and six walks, while striking out 42 batters.
 
Burns went 5-for-13 at the plate with two doubles and two RBI. She totaled five putouts in the outfield over the stretch of four games.
 
Disbrow went 4-for-12 over the weekend with one RBI.  She recorded six putouts and three assists from her shortstop position.
 
Quicker went 1-1 over the weekend, pitching a total of 20.0 innings through three appearances. She allowed just six earned runs over that stretch, giving her a 2.10 ERA. Quicker recorded two complete games and 11 strikeouts, while holding opponents to a .235 batting average.
 
Colleran went 3-for-11 at the plate over three games, giving her a .273 batting average. She ranked third on the team with three total bases, and recorded 10 assists in the field.
 
Mulligan had a hit against Ithaca and drew a walk against Alfred. In the two games played at first base she totaled 21 putouts and two assists.
