Fisher Rallies To Beat Utica In E8 Tournament
The St. John Fisher College baseball team scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, as the No. 3 Cardinals rallied for a 6-1 in over No. 4 Utica College in the Empire 8 Conference Championship on Thursday at Utica's Donovan Stadium. With the win, Fishe improves to 24-17, while Utica falls to 20-14-1.

Thomas Dinnen went 3-for-4 on the day and drove in the Pioneers' lone run of the contest in the top of the first inning. Three straight first inning hits by
Benjamin Hobaica,
Brandon Thomas and Dinnen led to a 1-0 advantage for the Pioneers early in the contest.
Fisher scored its first run of the day in to bottom of the fifth.
Matthew Cahill walked, moved to second on a single from
Joe Simmons and scored on a field error.
The Cardinals took their first lead of the day in the bottom of the eighth.
Shane Barley reached and advanced to second on a throwing error. Freshman Scott Eisenmerger then hit one to the warning track that the centerfielder dropped, putting two runners in scoring position.
Cody Wiktorksi snapped the 1-1 tie with a two-run double down the line in left. Fisher added two more runs in the frame with a double from Simmons, scoring Wiktorksi and pinch-runner
Tom Kline.
Simmons then scored on a wild pitch to put the Cardinals up 6-1.
Fisher's
Ryan Smith earned the win on the mound, pitching a scoreless eighth and ninth inning.
Stephen Lewis went 7.0 innings, allowing seven hits and one walk, while striking out five.
Utica's Josh Webb pitched 7.0 innings and struck out five, but four costly errors by the Pioneers helped to extend Fisher's late rally.
