No. 22 Stevens Falls In NCAA Second Round

, 2015) – The No. 22 Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team fell 5-4 in a thriller to No. 30 Skidmore College Friday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
 
The loss ends Stevens' season at 19-6 while Skidmore will move on to the round of 16.
 
With the match all tied at four, Skidmore's Kit Sanderson, the No. 22 singles player in the region according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, broke a third set tiebreaker with junior Ben Foran to clinch the win.
 
Skidmore built its lead early after taking the doubles advantage 2-1. Sophomore Charles Drake and freshman Danny Polk earned the Ducks doubles point thanks to an 8-4 win at No. 1 in the duos fourth win of the season together from the top spot.
 
The Ducks deficit rose to two after a Skidmore win at first singles, but Polk put the Ducks back on the board with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 5. Skidmore's Kai Yuen Leung answered however with a three-set win at No. 1 over junior Matthew Heinrich in a battle of top-five Northeast singles players.
 
Feldman brought the Ducks back with a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 3 before Drake's 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 5, however it's all the scoring the Ducks would muster as Skidmore closed the match with a win at No. 2.
 
While the team's season is over, Heinrich's will continue his with his inclusion into the NCAA Individual Championship starting on May 21.
