ITHACA, N.Y. – Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreational Sports Susan Bassett has announced the promotion of Michelle Manning to Associate Director of Athletics for Finance and Administration.

"Michelle is a vital member of our leadership team," said Bassett. "She demonstrated effectiveness in implementing the zero-base budget system within our division, and has been an important part of our new athletic identity implementation, along with countless other projects over the last two years. Michelle's work ethic, knowledge and experience have aided in the department's growth, and we are fortunate to have her as part of the Bomber Team."

Manning, who formerly served as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Business and Scheduling, will continue to serve as the Senior Woman Administrator. She will oversee the implementation of the department's budget, coordinate post-season tournaments and manage key aspects of intercollegiate athletics. Manning will also serve as the direct supervisor for various coaches and athletic teams.

"I am very appreciative of the opportunity to advance within the Ithaca College Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreational Sports," said Manning. "I am thrilled to be part of the Bomber Team, and am thankful to Susan Bassett for the opportunity and leadership she provides our department. It's an extremely exciting time for Ithaca College Athletics."

Manning joined the Bomber staff in July of 2011 after previously serving as SWA and head softball coach at Transylvania in Lexington, Ky. At Transylvania, Manning assisted in all aspects of the athletic department including compliance and eligibility and chairing the department's marketing and website committees to unify athletic department identities and logos. Manning has been a member of the NCAA regional advisory committee for softball and a member of the NCAA Division III softball committee since 2005.

As a coach, Manning led Transylvania to two conference championships. The Pioneers made the NCAA tournament in 2010. Prior to her tenure at Transylvania, Manning was the head softball coach and assistant volleyball coach at Albion and Shenandoah. She also served as head volleyball coach and assistant softball coach at Bethany.

Manning was a team captain and three-time all-region selection in softball as a player at Mount Union, where she earned a bachelor's degree in sport management, marketing and recreation. She earned a master's degree in athletic coaching education from West Virginia University.
