The St. John Fisher College football team will once again enter the season ranked among the nation's top programs.  The Cardinals begin the 2015 season ranked No. 19 overall in the D3football.com preseason poll, marking the fourth-straight year they have been ranked in the preseason poll and seventh time since 2005.

The Cardinals are coming off yet another successful season for the program, as head coach Paul Vosburgh's squad advanced to the postseason for the 12th consecutive season.  Fisher defeated Western Connecticut State 28-14 in the ECAC Northwest Bowl to finish the season with a 9-2 overall record.  The two losses tied the program record for fewest losses in a season.

Several key players return to the 2015 squad which will look to build off a season in which the Cardinals earned a share of the Empire 8 title.  It was the fifth time in Fisher's history that it earned a share of the Empire 8 title.

Fisher's high-flying offense returns the sophomore running back duo of James Chambers and Tony Fusco, who each earned All-Conference Second Team honors for their efforts during the season.  Fusco became the sixth back in program history to rush for 1,000 yards, and the first freshman to do so, racking up 1,172 rushing yards to go along with nine touchdowns.  Chambers offered extreme versatility, notching 127 all-purpose yards per game, while his 6.9 yards per carry average was the highest in Fisher's history.  At the wide receiver position, Fisher welcomes back senior Nathan Nigolian and junior Mike Collichio who each accounted for over 600 receiving yards, hauling in eight and nine touchdowns, respectively.

On the other side of the ball, the Cardinals return both their starting defensive backs from a season ago in Brandon Fuentes and Alec Mortilaro.  First Team All-Conference selection Jordan Andrews returns for his senior season after recording 43 tackles and one sack on the defensive line in 2014.  Defensive coach Mike Fox will also benefit from a healthy Mark Guarino-Hyde on the interior after missing six games last year due to injury.  Finally, senior Brandon Miller who racked up 57 tackles last year, will lead the linebacker core.

Fisher will open the 2015 season away from home on September 5 at 12 p.m. when it will travel to Thomas More College.
