Former Bengal Kacz Wins Professional Indoor Football League Championship, League Rookie of the Year Award

COLUMBUS, Ga.—Former Buffalo State quarterback Casey Kacz (Amherst/Sweet Home) helped lead his Columbus Lions to the franchise's second Professional Indoor Football Championship (PIFL) on July 6 with a 64-38 victory over the Richmond Raiders, and was later named the PIFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
 
Falling behind 16-7 in the first quarter, Columbus battled back and took the lead with a PIFL playoff-record 30 points in one quarter. Kacz was 16 of 26 for 187 yards and four touchdowns for the game.
 
Kacz finished the regular season with 2,361 passing yards, completing 58.5 percent of his attempts, and had 52 touchdowns against 17 interceptions.  He was also the team's leading rusher with 154 yards and five touchdowns.
 
Kacz wrapped up his playing career at Buffalo State in 2013.  A three-year starter after transferring in as a sophomore, he was a three-time All-Conference selection, piling of 6,081 passing yards and 30 touchdowns in 28 games played.  He also ran for 849 yards, a school record by a quarterback, and scored 18 touchdowns on the ground.  Kacz also owns school records for passing attempts in a season (305), completions in a season (189), completion percentage in a season (62.0), completion percentage in a career (59.2), passing yards in a game (579), and passing touchdowns in a game (tied – 5).
