St. John Fisher College Track and Field standouts Devin Cornelius and Mark VanMarter have been selected to the 2015 Semifinalist Watch List for the James D. Ulrich Award, recognizing their efforts during the 2014-15 season.  This award, as part of the Niagara Track and Field Hall of Fame Annual Awards, is given to the College Male Athlete of the year for non-Division I schools.

The members of the 11 person watch list come from seven colleges and universities highlighted by Cortland State's three nominations, followed by Fisher and Brockport State who garnered two apiece.

Cornelius earns a spot on the list after becoming Fisher's first two-time All-American from the track and field program.  Cornelius, along with VanMarter, helped the Cardinals sweep the Empire 8 Championships in indoor and outdoor track and field.  It was the first indoor and outdoor championships for the fourth-year track and field program.

Cornelius, a Deansboro native, finished fifth overall in the heptathlon at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship in March and provided Fisher with its first points at the national championship. He then earned his second national honor with an eighth-place finish in the decathlon at the NCAAs in May.

The junior was named the Empire 8 Field Athlete of the Year for the second straight outdoor season and the second straight indoor season; setting the College's record in the heptathlon and decathlon.  He also recorded his second straight victory in the decathlon at the NYSCTC Championship.

VanMarter finished his storied freshman campaign at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship where he became just the second All-American for the Fisher track program, joining Cornelius.  He jumped to a sixth place finish in the long jump at 7.21 meters.  VanMarter also took part in the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship in the long jump, vaulting to a 10th place finish.

On the season,VanMarter was named the Most Outstanding Field Athlete at both the Empire 8 Indoor and Outdoor Championships.  The freshman phenom won the long jump at both Empire 8 Championships, in addition to taking first place in the triple jump at the conference outdoor championship.
