HOBOKEN, N.J. (July 27, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology athletics department has named Amber Corcoran as its new field hockey head coach, making her the third in the program's history.

"We're very excited to have Amber coming on board as our new head field hockey coach, her passion and motivation for coaching were quite evident during the interview process," athletic director Russell Rogers said. "I was also impressed with Amber's knowledge of the game from her playing and coaching experience, and she's going to be a great fit for the program and mentor for the student-athletes."

Corcoran was previously the head coach at Immaculata University from 2011-14, as well as a coach for the Horizon Field Hockey Club since 2012. Since September of 2012, Corcoran has worked full-time as a programmer and marketing scientist for MSI International.

While at Immaculata, Corcoran led the Mighty Macs to three CSAC playoff appearances and was named the conference's coach of the year in 2011. At the club level, Corcoran coached primarily with U-19 and U-16 athletes at such prestigious events as the 2015 National Indoor Field Hockey Tournament and the 2013 National Field Hockey Festival.

Corcoran got her start in coaching in 2009 as an assistant coach at Chambersburg Area Senior High School.

"I'm very excited and looking forward to leading the Stevens field hockey program," Corcoran said. "We have a great group of talented young ladies who've been working hard over the off-season. They also have big goals they want to achieve this season which makes me very happy as a new coach."

"I want to thank Russell Rogers and Celine Cunningham for making me feel welcome, and for helping me throughout this transition. I'm very thankful to have this opportunity to coach at Stevens, and can't wait to get started."

As a student-athlete, Corcoran starred for Lebanon Valley College from 2005-2009 where she led the team to a conference championship and NCAA Tournament bid in 2006. Individually, Corcoran was a two-time all-conference performer in addition to NFHCA Third Team All-American and First Team All-Region nods in 2008.

Corcoran takes over a Ducks squad that returns every regular starter from a team that went 10-11 last fall en route to an appearance in the Empire 8 Championship semifinal. Stevens opens its 2015 campaign on September 1 when it hosts defending NCAA National Champion The College of New Jersey at 5 p.m.
