IC Women’s XC/Track & Field Recognized by USTFCCCA

ITHACA, N.Y. –
The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its annual NCAA Division III Programs of the Year standings and Ithaca College's women's teams ranked 12th overall. It is the highest finish in school history.

Between Ithaca's cross country and track & field teams, the Bombers totaled 91.5 points at national championship meets. The cross country program placed 31st overall in November, while the indoor track & field squad took 43rd in March. Ithaca's best placement came in May at the outdoor championships with a 17th place finish, highlighted by Brandy Smith's national title performance in the discus.

Seven members of the cross country team represented Ithaca in Mason, Ohio. – Allison Bartkowiak, Michaela Cioffredi, Anastasia Diamond, Anna Fay, Alexa Rick, Emily Smith and Hannah Wright.

At the indoor championships in Winston-Salem, N.C., Alex Rechen and Emilia Scheemaker were All-Americans, while Smith and Natalie Meyer also competed.

Scheemaker earned another All-America nod at the outdoor championships in Canton, N.Y. Rick and Rechen made their second title appearances of the 2014-15, while Christine Benway, Taryn Cordani, Leigh Martino and Katherine Pitman also qualified for the national meet.

This year's USTFCCCA Deb Vercauteren Program of the Year Award went to Massachusetts Institute of Technology. MIT placed second at the cross country championship, took fourth during the indoor season and fifth at outdoors.
