ITHACA, N.Y. -- Ithaca College Director of Intercollegiate Athletics & Recreational Sports Susan Bassett '79 has announced the hiring of Molly Braid as head coach of the women's golf program. Braid comes to Ithaca after most recently serving as the director of junior golf at the Dana Rader Golf School at the Ballantyne Hotel in Charlotte, N.C.

"We are excited to welcome Molly Braid to Ithaca College as our head women's golf coach" said Bassett. "Molly brings a wealth of teaching and playing experience with impressive LPGA and PGA teaching credentials. Her passion for the game is palpable and we are confident that she will be an outstanding leader, mentor and coach for our women's golf program."

While at the Dana Radar Golf School, Braid was responsible for scheduling, budgeting and writing new junior programs. She also served as a full time teaching professional in all of the programs offered by the school.

Braid was an active member on the LPGA National Communication Committee (2012-15) during that time. She also served as a LPGA Member Advisor, and was the Co-Site Director for the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf of Charlotte.

"I am thrilled to begin my collegiate coaching career at Ithaca College, where there is an unbelievable commitment to excellence athletically and academically," Braid said. "I would like to thank Susan Bassett, Will Rothermel and the rest of the athletics staff for allowing me this opportunity. I am looking forward to hitting the ground running this fall and building on this already great program."

Braid was the recipient of the US Kids Top 50 Instructors- Honorable Mention Award for four-straight years, starting in 2011 and ending in 2014. She also earned the Ballantyne Hotel Franchise Player Award in 2011, an honor given to those who show the ability to be a motivated, service orientated and creative team player.

"Molly is a fantastic fit for Ithaca College, and will be a tremendous addition to our athletics family," said Associate Athletic Director for Compliance, Facilities and Events, Will Rothermel. "Her energy, her teaching and playing background and passion for the game of golf will make her an excellent role model for our student-athletes, as well as a terrific ambassador of Ithaca College."

Braid is a 2008 graduate of Pfeiffer University, where she earned a degree in exercise science and sports medicine. Braid was a member of the Pfeiffer women's golf team and served as a SAAC representative from 2005-08. Following graduation, Braid volunteered as an assistant coach and mentor at Pfeiffer from 2008-12.
