Utica Field Hockey Receiving Votes in Preseason Poll
The Utica College field hockey team is receiving votes in the
2015 Penn Monto / NFHCA Division III Preseason Poll.
Utica picked up 110 points in the poll, placing it second in the receiving votes category, just 14 points behind SUNY New Paltz (124).
The Pioneers wrapped up their 2014 campaign with their third straight Empire 8 Conference title and NCAA Tournament berth. Utica lost to Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham 4-3 in overtime in the NCAA first round last season. UC also set new single-season program records for wins (18), points (232), and goals (92) in 2014. Hannah Mackey (Locke, NY/Moravia Central) and
Alaina Stojkovski (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) were named All-Americans, marking the first time that two Pioneers earned the distinction in the same season.
The Pioneers return five starters from last season, including seniors
Colleen Dowling (Fairport, NY/Fairport),
Taylor Lukins (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport Central), and
Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA/Kimball Union Academy). Utica opens up its season Tuesday, Sept. 1 as it travels to Union, New Jersey to face Kean University. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
