The Ithaca College women's golf team extended its streak of Empire 8 championships to six with a 39-stroke victory Sunday at the Ravenwood Golf Course in Victor, N.Y.
Ithaca’s winning score of 518 over the 27-holes (9-holes Saturday, 18-holes Sunday) gave the Bombers a 39-stroke margin of victory over St. John Fisher (557). Elmira finished in third place with a score of 567 and Nazareth finished fourth (928).
The weather was an improvement from the first day but the wind and cool temperatures still played a factor.
Ithaca’s Indiana Jones certainly didn’t let the weather get to her as she shot a career low 70, three under par, on Sunday to earn the Medalist/Player of the Year honor. She shot a 38 on the first nine holes of the tournament on Saturday to give her an impressive 108 total. It is the fourth straight year Ithaca has had the top finisher of the tournament.
Fisher freshman Taylor Laughinghouse scored a 139 over the two day tournament to finish in a tie for fourth place and earn the top Rookie honor. Laughinghouse's honor marks the first Rookie of the Tournament from Fisher since the tournament began in 2009.
