Ithaca No. 24 in D3football Ranking; Four Other E8 Teams Receiving Votes

The Ithaca College football team was on a bye week following a seasoning opening 38-23 road win at Union College which has propelled the Bombers to No. 24 in the latest D3football.com Top 25 Ranking. 

University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is ranked No. 1, followed by Mount Union, Linfield, Mary Hardin-Baylor and Wesley. To view the complete poll, visit http://d3football.com/top25/2015/week2.

The Bombers welcome rival Hobart College, ranked 16th in the D3football poll, to Butterfield Stadium for a 1 p.m. kickoff Sept. 19.

Cortland State, Morrisville State, Alfred University and St. John Fisher College are among the teams also receiving votes in the poll. 

Cortland picked up its second win of the season as junior Kyle Schneider completed 20-of-27 passes for 382 yards and four touchdowns against Framingham State for the 61-49 win. Jack Smith finished with five catches for 139 yards. Seniors Troy Beddoe and Devonite Davis and junior Tom Hagan led Cortland with 10 tackles each. 

Cortland and St. John Fisher, who is coming off a bye week, will open Empire 8 play at Fisher on Saturday at 1pm. 

Alfred improved to 2-0 with a 32-20 non-conference win over RPI on Sept. 12. Trailing 26-20, RPI was driving for a potential go-ahead score late in the fourth, but Alfred's defense, which was stellar for most of the game, forced the Engineers to turn the ball over on downs with just over two minutes remaining. The Saxons closed out the scoring with a touchdown with less than a minute remaining.

Alfred is in action next on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 1 p.m. at home against Buff State.

Morrisville is coming off a bye week and will travel to Utica for its first Empire 8 Conference games against the Pioneers on Sept. 19th with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
