Cortland Enters into D3Football.com Top 25 Poll
After making its Empire 8 debut, Cortland State enters the
D3football.com Top 25 Poll for the first time this season. The Red Dragons are ranked No. 25. The Ithaca Bombers moved up four spots to No. 20 and Alfred University is still among team receiving votes.
University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is ranked No. 1, followed by Mount Union, Linfield, Mary Hardin-Baylor and Wesley.

Steven Ferreira completed 21-of-34 passes for 234yards and two touchdowns and rushed for a score as Cortland won at St. John Fisher, 34-17, in the Red Dragons' Empire 8 debut.
Cortland, which joined the Empire 8 this fall after playing in the New Jersey Athletic Conference the last 15 seasons, improved to 3-0 overall with the win. The Red Dragons are off to their best start since opening 5-0 in the 2010 season.
Ithaca relied on a stout defense that forced six turnovers and scored a touchdown on a fumble recovery to knock off previously ranked Hobart College 24-6. Ithaca held the Statesman to 159 yards of total offense while intercepting three passes and recovering three fumbles. Hobart had won 33 consecutive regular season games, dating to a 29-28 loss to RPI on Nov. 5, 2011.
Alfred scored a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter to erase a 12-point deficit and defeat visiting Buffalo State, 29-26.
