Honorary Coaches and Cheerleaders Announced For Courage Bowl XI

The honorary coaches and cheerleaders for Courage Bowl XI were announced during the annual luncheon on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at St. John Fisher College.
The Courage Bowl game will take place at Fisher's Growney Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 26 with kickoff slated for 6 p.m. Gates open at 4:30 p.m.
"The Camp Good Days relationship that Fisher has enjoyed is very special," said Dr. Gerard J. Rooney, Fisher's president, and host of the luncheon. "It's great to see the community support for this event."
The honorary coaches and cheerleaders for the Cardinals are:
Brody Hines, age 9
Sam Gigliotta, age 6
Noah Martin, age 11
Ciara Griffin, age 10
KorieMae Spirito, age 11
The honorary coaches and cheerleaders for the Golden Eagles are:
Simon Fendinger, age 12
Matthew Kubisty, age 15
Padraig Crowley, age 8
Aaliyah Akins, age 9
Sarah Bischoping, age 11
On Saturday, the honorary coaches will be in the locker room with the team, lead them on to the field, be at mid-field for the coin toss, and coach from the sidelines during the game. The honorary cheerleaders will cheer with the Cheerleaders during the game.
At the luncheon, Gary Mervis, chairman and founder of Camp Good Days, also announced the renaming of the Courage Award to the Fr. Joseph Lanzalaco Memorial Courage Award, in honor of Lanzalaco, a beloved friend of the Fisher football program and Camp Good Days, who passed away suddenly last July. The award is given to members of the community who have displayed great courage in the face of a difficult time in their personal life. This year's recipients are Courtney Wagner of Canandaigua and Kathleen Graim of Buffalo.
"Fr. Joe was an important part of this campus; he loved our football team, he loved the children of Camp Good Days, and we certainly miss him," said Mervis, adding that both Wagner and Graim are true examples of courage.
In addition to players and coaches from the Fisher Cardinals and the Brockport Golden Eagles football teams, elected officials, members of the College's administration, and Camp Good Days and Special Times staff and supporters also attended the luncheon.
Tickets are also available online for $5.50 each. Game sponsors the County of Monroe, Phoenix Graphics, TOPS Markets, Lattimore Physical Therapy, Ewing Graphics, Mengel Metzger Barr CPA, and iHeartMedia. The game will be broadcast live on Time Warner Cable Sports (channel 323 statewide).
