Bombers and Red Dragons Ranked in Both National Polls
The Ithaca College and SUNY Cortland football teams moved up in the latest
D3football.com and
American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III polls, which reflect games through Saturday, Sept. 26.
The Bombers moved up to No. 17 in the AFCA poll and No. 19 in the D3football.com poll, while the Red Dragons are ranked No. 22 in both polls. The College at Brockport is among teams also receiving votes by the AFCA.
Ithaca used a 17-0 fourth-quarter outburst to defeat Alfred University 38-18 on Homecoming Saturday afternoon at Butterfield Stadium.
The Bombers rushed for a season-high 253 yards, led by sophomore
Tristan Brown's career-high 176 yards on just 17 carries. Brown ran for two touchdowns while averaging 10.4 yards per carry in logging his fourth career 100-yard game.
Cortland needed overtime against Utica College to stay unbeaten but pulled out a 47-40 win as junior quarterback
Steven Ferreira completed 26-of-39 passes for 372 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two scores, including the winning touchdown.
