Football Offensive Player - Cortland
Steven Ferreira, Junior, QB – West Sayville, NY/Sayville

 
Steven Ferreira completed 26-of-39 passes for 373 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed for two scores in Cortland's 47-40 overtime win vs. Utica. Ferreira scored the winning TD on a 7-yard run to start the first overtime period. His 10-yard TD run with 5:56 left in regulation gave the Red Dragons a 40-37 lead.
 
Football Defensive Player – Morrisville
Julian Serrano, Senior, DE – Bronx, NY/Global Studies
 
Julian Serrano led Morrisville State's defensive unit in the 37-23 defeat of Buffalo State Saturday for the Mustangs first Empire 8 win. In the contest he posted a season high 15 tackles, six solo stops. He also recorded a half sack, registered three tackles for a loss of nine-yards and had a pass break up.
 
Football Special Teams Player – St. John Fisher
Brandon Fuentes, Senior, CB – Avon, NY/Avon
 
In the second quarter, on fourth-and-five from the Brockport 45, Brandon Fuentes took the direct snap and rushed down the left sideline untouched for a 55-yard score to give Fisher its first points of the game.
 
Field Hockey Offensive Player – St. John Fisher
Emily Markarian, Sophomore, Forward – Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park
 
Emily Markarian picked up two game-winning overtime goals this week in matches against Houghton and Geneseo. The Geneseo win marked the first victory against the Knights for Fisher in program history.
 
Field Hockey Defensive Player –  Elmira
Julie Hockenberger, Sophomore, Goalie – Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius
 
In Elmira's lone game of the week, Julie Hockenberger came up with a season-high 16 saves to help guide the Soaring Eagles to a 3-1 conference win on the road against Hartwick College. She stopped a pair of penalty strokes against the Hawks, one in the first half and another with less than seven minutes remaining in regulation, as she picked up her first win of the season.
 
Men’s Cross Country Runner – Stevens
Greg Arabagian, Sophomore – Morristown, NY/Morristown
 
Sophomore Greg Arabagian led Stevens to a seventh place team finish at the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams College. Arabagian was the Ducks top finisher, placing 27th with a time of 26:40.4 in the 8K event.
 
Women’s Cross Country Runner – Nazareth
Emily Thompson, Junior – Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker
 
Emily Thompson was the top finisher for Nazareth at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational, running to an 11th place finish. She finished the 5k in 18:59.3, good for an average mile pace of 6:06.
 
Men’s Golf Athlete – Stevens
Frank Szucs, Junior – Brookside, NJ/Delbarton
 
Frank Szucs set a school record with a 69 on the second day of the Hamilton Invite at the par-71 Yahnundasis Golf Club. Szucs shot a 78 on the first day and finished third overall as he helped the Ducks to a new two-round program record score of 611.  
 
Women’s Golf Player – Ithaca
Krya Denish, Junior – Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West
 
Sophomore Kyra Denish placed fifth with a two-day score of 160 at the annual Martin/Wallace Invitational. Denish carded an opening-day round of 77 on the par-72, 5,804-yard course and found herself seven shots back of medalist honors.
 
Men’s Soccer Offensive Player – Utica
Shane Ruffing, Senior, Forward – Rochester, NY/Westborough
 
Utica College senior forward Shane Ruffing became the program's all-time leader in career goals scored after his impressive two goal/two assist performance in the Pioneers convincing 6-0 win over Nazareth College on Saturday. Ruffing now has 28 career goals and moved into sole possession of first place all-time.
 
Men’s Soccer Defensive Player –  Houghton
Jacob Dunnett, Junior, Goalie – Quispamsis, New Brunswick/Kennebecasis
 
Jacob Dunnett finished with two shutouts on the week as Houghton stretched its unbeaten streak to four games. On Wednesday the Highlanders defeated Pitt-Bradford 3-0 and on Saturday he made six saves to preserve a 0-0 tie against Stevens Institute of Technology.
 
Women’s Soccer Offensive Player – Elmira
Jordyn Rousselle, Sophomore, Forward – Stillwater, NY/Schuylerville
 
Jordyn Rousselle entered the week without a point to her name through her two-year career but would finish the week with seven points on three goals and one assist. Against St. John Fisher, she scored her first career goal, Elmira's second of the game, to seal a 2-0 victory. Then, in a 3-1 win over Utica, Rousselle tallied five points on two goals and one assist. Of Elmira's five goals last week, Rousselle played a part in four of them and accounted for seven of EC's 14 points.
 
Women’s’ Soccer Defensive –  Elmira
Gabe Carmona, Sophomore, Goalie – Sylmar, CA/Chaminade College Prep
 
Gabe Carmona made 15 saves last week to help Elmira score a pair of conference wins against St. John Fisher College and Utica College. Against Fisher, Carmona made seven saves to preserve a 2-0 shutout victory, her first and Elmira's first win of the season. Then, in a 3-1 win over Utica, Carmona made eight saves to seal the win.
 
Women’s Tennis Player – Hartwick
Heidi Rice, Sophomore – Canandaigua, NY/Marcus-Whitman
 
Heidi Rice went 4-0 in Hartwick's two conference matches this week against Utica College and St. John Fisher College. Rice has helped lead Hartwick to its first ever 5-0 start in the conference and helped the team secure an 8-0 start for the first time in program history. In her four matches, she only dropped a total of four games winning at first doubles with Rose Natoli 8-1 and 8-0. Rice was equally dominant in singles winning against top opponents 6-0, 6-0 and 6-3, 6-0.
 
Women’s Volleyball Player –  Houghton
Anna Coryell, Sophomore, Setter – Phelps, NY/Midlakes
 
Anna Coryell led Houghton to a 2-1 record in conference play last week. Against Nazareth, Anna posted her first triple double as she put down 10 kills with a hitting average of .643, had 33 assists and 15 digs. Against Ithaca she handed out 33 assists, nine digs and 11 kills. Against Utica, Anna tallied 42 assists. For the week Anna had 108 assists (8.3 per set), 18 kills, hitting at .459, 31 digs and seven aces.
 
Women’s Volleyball Rookie –  Ithaca
Katie Evans, Freshman, MH – Westerville, OH/St. Francis DeSales
 
Freshman Katie Evans hit .400 over three matches, including two Empire 8 wins last week. Evans started the tri-match with nine kills on 16 attempts with just one error (.500) in a sweep of Utica, and then put down 14 kills with three errors on 25 swings (.440) in the four-set win against Houghton. She began the week with five kills against Keuka.
