Fisher Men’s Golf Jumps To 6th Place In Division III Preseason Poll
The St. John Fisher College men's golf team received 276 points and is ranked sixth in the
Bushnell Golfweek Division III Coaches Poll.
The Cardinals, who received three first-place votes, jumped ahead seven spots in the polls from their previous preseason rank of 13 after recent success in back-to-back tournament weekends.
Fisher took first place at the Flower City Preview at Midvale Country Club, posting a score of 604 for 36 holes. Senior
Corey Haas finished first place overall of 90 golfers, shooting a score of 72 in round one, and 73 for round two. The tournament featured five of the nation's top 10 teams, including Methodist University, the defending national champions and the No.1 ranked team in the poll.
Last weekend, the Cardinals traveled to Syracuse to participate in the first two rounds of Empire 8 Championship at Timber Banks Golf Club in which they again took first place overall as a team with a score of 617. Last year, Fisher won the Empire 8 Conference Championship for the fifth straight year, and the 10
th time in the last 11 years.
The Cardinals are currently in action at Gordin Collegiate Classic hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
