The Empire 8 has hired Mara Wager as the first-ever Coordinator of Women’s Lacrosse Officials. The administrators from around the conference have made a concerted effort regarding officials over the past three years, as women’s lacrosse is now the seventh E8 sport to hire its own coordinator.

“I am honored to be selected as the Coordinator of Women's Lacrosse Officials for the Empire 8 Conference,” said Wager. “ I look forward to working with a dedicated group of coaches and athletic administrators to enhance the competitive experience of the student athletes.”

Wager currently serves as the America East and Big 10 Coordinator of Women’s Lacrosse officials, and is the ABOWLO Collegiate and High School Assignor of Women’s Lacrosse officials. She has served on the U.S. Lacrosse International Umpire Committee since 2010 and has been a member of the Collegiate Women’s Lacrosse Officiating Association since 2014.

"Mara is a nationally respected professional in women's lacrosse,” Empire 8 Commissioner Chuck Mitrano stated. “We are excited to have her tremendous skill set as an official, assignor and mentor to lead our officiating service for the betterment of the game of lacrosse."

In addition to her experience at the collegiate level, Wager has international umpiring experience, working as a World Cup umpire in Canada, as well as umpiring at the North American Challenge Cup.
Wager has been a member of the Federation of International Lacrosse since 2000, and a member of both the US Lacrosse and Adirondack Board of Women’s Lacrosse Officials since 1990.
