ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College and Nazareth College men's indoor track and field squads are ranked 13th and 20th, respectively, in the 2016 Preseason Indoor Track and Field rankings by the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Scores in the National Team Computer Rankings were determined by the USTFCCCA computers using preseason event rankings that include the top marks of the recent NCAA indoor track & field seasons by returning student-athletes and the top marks of the young 2016 campaign.

Fisher senior Kyle Koehler has the second-best mark nationally in the shot put at 16.06 meters, while Peter Girardi posted the fourth-best time in the 60-meter hurdles last week.

Thomas Cosgrove currently ranks fifth nationally in the long jump, while teammates Mark VanMarter and Ryan McQuillenalso rank among the national leaders in the long jump.  VanMarter is also in the top 30 nationally in the high jump as well.

Nazareth senior Luis Rivera will look to compete again for a national title in the weight throw after becoming the Golden Flyers' first male field All-American after placing sixth last season at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.  He set a school-record with a heave of 19.29 meters (63 feet, 3 1/2 inches).  Rivera and the rest of the Nazareth squad have competed in just one meet this season at the RIT Early Season Invite in December.  His throw of 18.27 meters (59 feet, 11 ¼ inches) currently ranks second in the country.

Senior Tom Sippie is ranked ninth in the country in the 400-meter dash after clocking a 50.78 at the RIT Early Season Invite.

The Golden Flyers 4 x 400 squad of Sippie, Nick LaBarbera, Matt Battaglia, and Jacob Murray also rank ninth in the country after a 3:27.79 in the first meet of the season.
