Two Fisher Records set at Gotham Cup

The St. John Fisher College men's indoor track and field team delivered several strong performances at the New York City Gotham Cup on Friday, held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island.

Sophomore Mark VanMarter finished fourth overall and first among NCAA Division III competitors in the long jump, leaping 7.21 meters, good for the second-best mark in the nation.

Classmate Peter Girardi set a new Fisher record in the 400, posting the nation's 12th-best time of the year (50.52 seconds).  He also placed seventh overall in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.33 seconds, the seventh-best time of the year in Division III.

McQuade Milligan set a new Fisher record in the mile for the second straight week, finishing in 4:20.97 (16th nationally).
