Nassif, King and Dobles Named D3Soccer.com All-Americans
Three Empire 8 women's soccer players have been named
All-Americans by d3soccer.com. Stevens Institute of Technology junior Raba Nassif and Ithaca College senior Kelsey King are part of the second team, while Nazareth College junior Allison Dobles is on the third team.
The teams were chosen by the D3soccer.com staff, Division III soccer coaches and sports information directors from a field of almost 400 nominations. In all, thirty-three players representing twenty-six schools and twenty different conferences have been named to the three All-America teams.
Nassif has been named First Team All-Empire 8 Conference, E8 Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-Upstate ECAC, ECAC Offensive Player of the Year, NSCAA All-Region, and NSCAA Second Team All-American.
The Jersey native is the first player in program history to be named to the second team of the website's All-American list, joining Heather Dean and Siena York-Carr who were each named to the third team in 2006.
Nassif led the team, and the nation, with 18 assists this season to go along with 19 goals off a team-leading 59 shots on goal. Off the 19 scores, four of them were of the game-winning variety.
Nassif's team-leading 57 points this season were more than her previous two seasons combined, and she'll enter the 2016 season second of the program's all-time points list. Nassif became just the second player in program history to amass 100 career points in the Ducks final regular season match this fall.
Due in large part to Nassif's efforts this season, the Ducks captured their first E8 title since 2011 before falling in the third round of the NCAA Tournament to eventual national champion, Williams College. The Ducks also earned their highest postseason ranking of all time, coming-in at No. 13 in the final NSCAA poll.
King was also named All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), an ECAC All-Star, First-Team All-Region and First-Team All-Conference.
King led the Bombers in scoring and ranked fifth in the Empire 8 Conference with 24 points. Her 87 shots was fourth-most of any conference player this season while her 1.2 points per game ranked fifth overall.
She scored two or more goals in a game twice this season while eclipsing the three-point plateau on three different occasions. King accounted for two game-winning goals on the season leading her to be named First-Team All-Conference for the third time in her career.
King concludes her senior year as one of the most dominant offensive talents to ever wear a Bombers' uniform. She currently ranks third all-time in both career goals (43) and career points (98).
Dobles was a mainstay in net all season, helping the Golden Flyers to a 12-3-3 overall record. The junior goalie led the Empire 8 conference with an impressive .617 goals against average. For the season, Dobles started 15 games and played a total of 1458:46 in net with a .904 save percentage. Her outstanding play throughout the year resulted in seven shutouts, including during the regular season when she set a career-high 18 saves in a 0-0 tie against Ithaca College. She also netted 16 saves in a 1-0 win over the University of Rochester.
In addition to the d3soccer.com honors, Dobles was a second team selection on the NCAA Division III All-East Region team that was selected by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America earlier this year.
